William Gould

Professor of Indian History, University of Leeds

I did my BA (1992-5), MPhil (1995-6) and PhD (1996 - 2000) at the University of Cambridge, Pembroke College as an undergraduate (up to the MPhil), then Trinity College as a PhD student.  Before coming to Leeds I was a Research Fellow at the Centre of South Asian Studies, University of Cambridge (2000 - 2003).

Dakxinkumar Bajrange (Chhara) 

Nomad Movies 

Dakxinkumar Bajrange (Chhara), managing director of Nomad Movies is an award winning documentary filmmaker of India. He is also a founding member of the most active community theatre of Gujarat called "Budhan Theatre Society'' and has been active in "Theatre for Development'' since 14 years. He is educated at the University of Leeds on the Ford Foundation International Fellowship Program.

Simon Barlow 

Documentary Research Assistant

Simon completed his BA History (2006-2009) and MA Race and Resistance (2013-2014) at the University of Leeds. Having spent four years in the private sector he returned to academia to pursue research interests in India, with particular reference to ideologies of development and representative politics. Within the project he has been involved with drawing up provisional data for a future mapping project to trace Denotified Tribes in India.

Tiggy Allen 

Documentary Research Assistant 

Tiggy graduated in 2014 from a BA in History at the University of Leeds, with a particular interest in colonial histories, particularly India. Her undergraduate dissertation used gender theories and a combination of social and political histories to explore the relationship between cultures of honour and rape in India between 1947 and 2012. she is now considering a masters degree, and her role in the Birth 1871 project comprised of organising screenings of the film and also some academic research.

Christopher Bone

Documentary Research Assistant 

Christopher Bone is currently studying History BA at the University of Leeds, with an interest in the late colonial period in India. His interests focus specifically on the Partition of India and its effects on groups such as the Denotified Tribes. Within the project his role was as a web designer and researcher.
